Adventure Travel 101: Industry Experts Demystify Adventure Travel

During the 45-minute Webinar, Tomgirl Tours Founder Lori Carr and Annie’s Escapes owner Ann Petronio will educate both consumers and travel agents who are curious about adventure travel, but want clarification on fundamental requirements before they feel prepared to embark on their own adventure.

Carr and Petronio decided to offer this unique Webinar because adventure travel–the fastest-growing branch of the leisure travel industry, according to the U.S. Travel Association–is also one of the most misunderstood. Questions regarding itineraries, safety requirements, trip insurance, and suggested fitness levels often prevent people from venturing into the unknown, while questions about who enjoys adventure travel can confound travel agents. The Webinar provides an excellent learning opportunity for both groups but is geared toward consumers interested in learning more about experiencing their own adventure trip.

Travel professionals often use the adjectives hard and soft to define the level of adventure. But even those definitions are ambiguous and activities in the two categories swing to extremes. Adventure Travel 101: Adventure Travel Demystified will explain these levels, while also offering women a middle ground, termed “mildly adventurous”, a term coined by Tomgirl Tours. Carr and Petronio will also answer questions about how to plan an adventure vacation and choose the right tour, while addressing topics like travel goals, destination choices, desired activities and budget planning.

The U.S. Travel Association estimates that one-half of American adults (a staggering 98 million people) have taken an adventure trip in the last five years, and Carr and Petronio, both adventure seekers themselves, are passionate about helping others understand and explore adventure getaways.
