Edmonton Capital Region Tourism Partnership Program Up 50%
Edmonton, Alberta (Vocus) November 10, 2010
Membership in the industry partnership program for the Edmonton Capital Region Tourism Partnership has grown by more than 50 percent in the last year. Currently totalling 620, tourism partners represent the breadth and diversity of organizations that collectively serve visitors with Edmonton travel and tourism products and services, including eateries, retail, nightlife, attractions, transportation, sports/recreation, realtors, photographers and salons/spas.
Industry partnerships are part of a coordinated effort to market the Capital Region and the tourism industry to visitors and conference/event-planners. Edmonton Tourism markets and educates the industry on partnership benefits, including networking opportunities, cost-effective out-of-market exposure, and professional development.
“The tourism industry partnership network offers great value at so many levels —marketing initiatives, sales missions, familiarization trips, access to the partnership database and business mixers. Being an active Edmonton Tourism partner allows us to work more easily in promoting our company and driving new business opportunities,” says Rhoda Lemay, Director of Sales and Marketing at Fantasyland Hotel. “Edmonton Tourism has proven to be a valuable partnership to our Edmonton hotel and a membership that is at the top of our list to belong to.”
“Industry partnerships bring people and companies together, and connect them with each other and to the world,” says Ken Fiske, Vice-President of Economic and Tourism Development at Edmonton Economic Development Corporation. “It speaks to our ability, as an industry and region, to work collaboratively and collectively to promote Edmonton, Alberta and the Capital Region as a must-see destination.”
Leon Hunter, Yellowhead Brewery’s Sales Manager, says, “The Edmonton Tourism team has had a positive impact on our business. The networking and marketing opportunities are invaluable. I would encourage any service-based business to become an industry partner.”

Great post! I?m just starting out in community management/marketing media and trying to learn how to do it well – resources like this article are incredibly helpful. As our company is based in the US, it?s all a bit new to us. The example above is something that I worry about as well, how to show your own genuine enthusiasm and share the fact that your product is useful in that case
