Miscarriage Healing: Mother’s Day Celebrations through Memorial Jewelry and Affirmation Cards, Miscarriage Bracelets and Poetry by La Belle Dame Aid in Recovery

Prince Edward Island (PRWEB) April 4, 2006

Women who have endured miscarriage have reason to celebrate this Mother’s Day. Even though their babies are no longer physically with them, these women remain mothers, wanting to celebrate and remember the life that once was while fullfilling a need that often goes unrecognized in society. Kimberly de Montbrun, owner of http://www.LaBelleDame.com who experienced a miscarriage nine years ago, assists in the healing process through her memorial jewelry created to initiate healing after a miscarriage, stillborn child, or death of a neonate. In time for Mother’s Day, La Belle Dame will release this spring a line of unique Mother’s Day Cards to honor mothers of lost children.

With 15-20% of all recognized pregnancies in North America ending in miscarriage every year, thousands of women mourn their loss alone, anguishing over feelings of guilt and inadequacy. Recent advances that make it possible to detect pregnancy in the weeks immediately after conception have led to an estimated miscarriage rate of 60-70% and mean that even more women will be in need of support as they overcome their grief.

“I understand the pain that a woman feels. The emotional suffering is worsened because our society doesn’t recognize miscarriage as a ‘real’ loss, nor does it view these women as ‘real’ mothers” de Montbrun explains. To initiate her own path to healing, de Montbrun used her artistic talent and knowledge of gemstones to create memorial jewelry as something tangible that she could hold on to during the recovery process. The “Tiny Footprints on a Mother’s Heart” line of memorial jewelry was created especially for this purpose. To further enhance the healing power of her memorial jewelry, de Montbrun has developed a unique line of Mother’s Day Cards featuring her own poetry.

This Mother’s Day, to support a loved one who has endured miscarriage, de Montbrun suggests that friends and family send cards that acknowledge her as a mother, present a symbolic gift such as a memorial bracelet, a plant for a memory garden, a white rose to remember her baby, or a journal for her to write in. “Above all,” de Montbrun emphasizes, “Ask the mother how she would like to honor this special day.”

Participation in a bereavement support group can also encourage the healing process. In her own community, de Montbrun volunteers at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI, bringing bereavement support services to Island women and families. de Montbrun will be organizing and leading support groups in Eastern PEI for miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss beginning in May 2006.

Kimberly de Montbrun is owner of La Belle Dame, http://www.LaBelleDame.com. She designs and crafts each piece of memorial jewelry and composes the poetry for the affirmation cards. Jewelry related to fertility or pregnancy is also available.
