NeverEndingWonder Radio Announces Non-Stop Celtic Music Party for St. Patrick’s Day
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) March 13, 2006
NeverEndingWonder Radio, a free independent internet radio station, announced recently it plans to play 48 straight hours of non-stop Celtic music March 17 & 18, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. “This is one of our favorite times of the year,” said station manager Lee Widener. “Our listener numbers shoot through the roof when we do our annual St. Patrick’s Day broadcast, so we’re really looking forward to this. St. Patrick’s Day is on a Friday this year so we’re extending our Celtic music broadcast to Saturday. We figure there will be a lot of people celebrating on Saturday as well.”
“Our extensive music library contains thousands of Celtic tunes,” explained Host Uncle Ozma, “We’ve got everything from old field recordings of Irish musicians and singers from the 1930′s, classic bagpipe recordings, traditional bands like The Chieftains, The Dubliners and The Clancy Brothers, up to groups with a more modern approach like Capercallie, Runrig, Horslips and others, right up to the Celtic New Age movement with artists such as Enya, Maire Brennan, David Arkenstone and others, and even new releases from independent Celtic artists like The Drunk Irish Boys and The Crossing.”
“It’ll be a no repeat 48 hours,” Uncle Ozma noted, explaing that NeverEndingWonder Radio’s reputation for variety would not be sacrificed during this Celtic music fest. “When you have a musical category that includes such diverse offerings as The Irish Rovers, Christy Moore, Natalie McMaster, Afro-Celt Sound System, Van Morrison, The Battlefield Band, Bonnie Rideout, Boys of the Lough, Clannad, The Dalraida Brothers and dozens more, you can’t go wrong. Celtic music is not all bagpipes and tin whistles. There’s an amazing variety of sounds and we intend to present them all!”
Station Manager Lee Widener said the offerings would not be limited to music. “We have some recordings of the great Irish poet William Butler Yeats reading some of his greatest works that we’ll throw into the mix. Whether you’re a dedicated fan of Celtic music or you only turn Irish one day a year you should enjoy this broadcast. People can tune into NeverEndingWonder Radio through our website – NeverEndingWonder.com.”
The special St. Patrick’s Day broadcast on NeverEndingWonder Radio will be March 17 & 18, and will feature 48 straight hours of non-stop Celtic music.
